When you say, "find the hidden pet portraits," what exactly do you have in mind?

Where are my selfies that I took with the event app?

The photos taken via the event app/site should be stored with your other photos on your phone. Look for them there.

Why do you need my email address? What are you doing with it?

Our system uses your email address to track the pet portraits (aka “loot”) that you’ve located, so we can figure out prizes! We will not sell your email address.

Can I register a team, say, my coworkers or bowling league?

Yes, absolutely. Big company, small company, any size works!  There’s no maximum number who can dream up and team up to find the shelter pet pictures. If you register as a team, you create a team name and enter a single email address that everyone on the team can use to log their loot.

Can I do the scavenger hunt by myself?

Yes, absolutely. This is a great way for individuals to relax and enjoy the energy of the Everett metro area, while doing something good for animals and the community.

Can I register with a friend or my family?

Yes! In fact, we highly encourage people to bring others along on the fun. This is a great activity to create memories and perfect for picture taking. You can either complete separate registrations for each participant or register everyone as part of a team. (As a team, you create a team name and everyone uses the same email address to log their loot.)

Is this event appropriate for children?

Yes, children of all ages are welcome to participate with a parent, guardian, or adult.

Where do I get the scavenger hunt map?

What can you tell me about downtown parking?

Per the Downtown Everett Association (DEA) website, street parking is free with no time limit after 6 pm and on weekends. During daytime hours on weekdays, street parking is limited to 90 minutes and no re-parking is allowed. Garage parking rates, hours and allowed length of stay vary by location. Outside of special events, rates are typically at least $3. Many garages prohibit overnight parking – be sure to note each garage’s policy.

Did you know? Parking is free after 6 pm weekdays and all day on Saturday and Sunday at the Everpark Garage. (Parking is paid all other times, but parking validation is offered by some businesses.) The Everpark Garage has more than 200 parking spaces available, and it is located at 2815 Hoyt Avenue between Hewitt and California.

How long do I have to complete the scavenger hunt?

The event begins July 1 and concludes July 31. Prizes will be awarded based on the pet portraits that are found in the Everett metro area during that timeframe.

Is it ok for me to locate all the portraits in one day?

Yes, that’s perfectly fine. While you can use all the days in July to find the hidden portraits, you’re in no way required to do so.

Can I hunt for the hidden pet portraits around the clock?

No. Pet portraits are hidden within the businesses themselves, so you will only be able to search for them during regular business hours. However, because many types of businesses are participating, “regular business hours” vary a lot. For instance, banks and bars typically have widely different operating hours.

How do I get included in the Selfie Share Challenge?

Simply take pictures of yourself in front of the pet portraits you find and share those pictures to your social media accounts with the hashtag — #pawswithcause. If you want to do even more good, include the hashtag for the animal rescue mentioned on the pet portrait and/or the hashtag of the business where you found the portrait!

We’ll keep an eye out for your posts, and we’ll re-post the best ones to our Facebook page. We’ll also give special recognition to the most incredible and deserving Selfie Shares during the after-event wrap-up party.

Can our team be included in the Selfie Share Challenge?

Yes! Just include pictures of your team in front of the pet portraits you find and share those pictures to a PawsWithCause social media accounts as well as your own with the hashtag — #pawswithcause.

Who’s most likely to enjoy this scavenger hunt?

This is truly a fun event for everyone — eg, old, young, men, women, boys, girls, singles, new couples, long-time couples, big teams, small teams, moms, dads, school kids, teenagers, retired, neighbors, families, coworkers, college buddies, etc.

Why might I want to do a scavenger hunt?

It's fun! It's different! It gets you outdoors and you have a chance to explore the city in ways you haven't had a chance to before! Oh, and you can add a unique spin on the scavenger hunt to make it your own and create even more memories. For instance:

  • DATE NIGHT — This is a perfect event for a series of date nights — especially, for a new couple getting to know each or a long-time couple needing to inject a little whimsy into their world. Oh! How about making it a double date competition!

  • BIRTHDAY PARTY — This is a clever idea for a “progressive” birthday party activity. You know, like what people do with dinners, but do this as “hunt for portraits in the pubs tonight and the coffee houses tomorrow” or some variation.

  • KID ACTIVITY — How about a random, free, summer adventure to get the kids outside — learning about maps, apps, and animals?

  • BACHELORETTE PARTY — Spend the weekend snapping selfies while looking for pet portraits in all the quaint coffee houses, trendy breweries, and chic boutiques Everett has to offer. How many portraits can your bachelorette team find in say, 48 hours? Fun for a good cause and a neat way for your wedding activities to get noticed.

  • NEMESIS NIGHT – Have a competitor in town? Show your team spirit by challenging them to out-hunt you in the Great Everett Scavenger Hunt! Woot! Woot! Go, Team!

  • BELONG TO A MEET-UP or Other SOCIAL GROUP? Get ‘Local-Social-Loco’ by joining in the hunt!

If you need more reasons to join us … If you walk our lovely city looking for the pet portraits, you’ve just found a way to make “getting your daily steps in” a whole lot more interesting. If you’re looking for a budget friendly activity, a scavenger hunt is much more fun than randomly hanging out in the park. Helping rescue animals get seen outside cages and possibly get adopted is a whole lot more inspiring than sitting at home watching the news! At the very least, cruising around Everett doing a scavenger hunt during the summer — whether walking, biking, or driving — is much more likely to make you smile and laugh than sitting at home binging on streaming television!

Can I bring my dog with me on the scavenger hunt?

You may bring your dog along with you. However, whether pets will be permitted into individual businesses will depend on the specific policies of those businesses. Also, keep in mind seasonal temperatures, as parked cars get HOT VERY QUICKLY and are not safe for our furry friends.
